AFTER the shepherd had chased the sheep off the pitch, and the swaying rusty goalposts were put in place, both teams lined up.

Edgecombe took control by playing the wide ball and using their speed on the wings troubling the Calstock defence.

Calstock were soon a goal down when Nick Tilbury put a headed goal into his own net.

Goalkeeper Yarwood made a fine save, diving at the feet of an oncoming attacker.

Towards half-time Edgecombe scored two more.

The second half kicked off with Calstock changing gear and forcing the game.Veteran striker Phil Spurr.slotted home a rebound, giving some hope.

Egdecombe put a few attacks together, but Jason Hewitt played a brilliant defensive role for Calstock, despite suffering from a back injury.

Calstock pushed hard. Tilbury drove a shot into the far corner of the net and with five minutes remaining Phil Spurr headed a third, rocking Edgecombe.

With the final minutes ticking away Tilbury buried the ball into the net making the score 4-4. With seconds to go. Edgecombe launched one last attack and with the help of the wind the ball drifted into the top right hand corner of the net.
