THERE'S an opportunity to spend the day with family and friends at a West Devon beauty spot this Easter, enjoying family activities and a beautiful but vigorous walk through the breath-taking scenery at Lydford Gorge.
On Sunday April 5 between noon and 3.30pm, families can make an Easter basket, bunny mask and other activities at the Easter craft activities workshop in a marquee in the orchard. The workshop is suitable for children aged between 4 and 12 years and costs £2 per child. Normal admission charges apply.
There's also the chance to construct a giant nest, build a bird box, and follow the bird trail to discover interesting facts about the woodland birds at the gorge during the Children's Bird and Nest Day. Participants can make masks and finger puppets, and enjoy other craft activities in the orchard and marquee. The event is suitable for children aged 4+. and costs £1.50 per child for activities, excluding bird box. £4 for each bird box. Normal admission charges apply.
The gorge is also staging a nature detective Easter Trail.
Visitors can learn about Easter customs and traditions along the way, receiving a chocolate treat for completed trails.
The trail is on between Friday April 10 and Monday April 13, between noon and 3.30pm. It is suitable for children aged four to 12 years and costs £2 per child. Please wear stout footwear.

On April 15, visitors can join the wardens for their monthly ramble between 11am and 12.30pm. Meet the warden at visitor reception before going for a short walk. Normal admission charges apply. Booking advisable.
And on Sunday April 19 the gorge will host a Family Woodland Sculpture Day between noon and 3pm. The event is suitable for children aged 7+ — the cost is £2 per sculpture. Normal admission charges apply.
