Duchy division 1 Launceston United 1 Lamerton 4 LAMERTON welcomed back the influential Breyley brothers at the heart of the defence for this tough evening fixture against a skilful Launceston side. Launceston started better and took a deserved lead after 15 minutes. It looked as if Launceston would increase the advantage, with some slick passing and movement leaving Lamerton often chasing shadows. But Lamerton?s fight and effort saw them hold out and score a goal of their own. Striker Pete Broomfield chasing everything up front got a break from some mediocre defending and blasted a volley from 15 yards past the home keeper to make it level. Both teams then had goals unfairly disallowed before half time. The 2nd half was better for Lamerton as Launceston?s creativity ceased. Contrastingly, it was Launceston?s leaky defence that cost them. An inspired Broomfield was in the right place at the right time midway through the 2nd half to complete a deserved hat trick. Firstly picking up the pieces off a corner to score inside the box and lastly tapping home after a calamitous keeper fumble. Fellow striker Lee Wickett who earlier should have made it 2-1 added a 4th, with a confident finish, which rounded up 3 goals for the away side in a bizarre 10 minute spell. It was however a much needed spell and win to boost Lamerton?s early season confidence. Duchy division 1 St Cleer 0 Lamerton 6 THIS game was over before it started for the home side who were unable to raise the full eleven. With the grass not cut either, it?s debatable whether St Cleer will survive as the season progresses. Lamerton could have gone behind in the first 5 minutes but for a fine stop by Pete Daniel. That was probably Daniel?s only game action as Lamerton went 4-0 up on half time. Two goals by Lee Wickett, and one each for Pete Broomfield and James Healy. The 2nd half was less constructive with only 2 goals coming from Dave Byworth and Daniel Healy. Lamerton travel to Pensilva on Saturday.
