BERE Ferrers Watersports Day, earlier this year to catch the best tides, takes place on Saturday June 24 from 3pm. There will be games galore in the mud of the Tavy, getting wetter as the tide comes in, with the greasy pole the climax to the games. A barbecue on the quay during the afternoon will be followed in the evening by a pig roast. There will be displays and stalls on and around the quay. The bar on the quay will serve drinks from 3pm, with all profits going to the Villagers? Group for use on village projects. Children?s attractions will include a bouncy castle and a crab catching competition. Entertainment on the quay in the evening starts with the local Bere Band, who played their first gig at this year?s village variety show. The headline five-piece band Rusty Nail will carry on the entertainment from 9pm until midnight.
