THE last two weeks has seen prolific runner Adam Holland take on two of the Votwo events.

The Tavistock runner competed in the Jurassic Coast Challenge 2011 on March 25-27, where the course was held in reverse to previous years.

Still with the challenging ups and downs of the Jurassic Coast it started from Studland Bay and finishing in Lyme Regis in Dorset.

Adam, who really enjoys this event, was second runner to finish each day — day one in 3hrs 33mins 59secs, day two 3.47.05 and day three in 4.01.29 to give him an overall time of 11.22.33.

Adam's second event was the USN Dorney duathlon 5km run/ 20km bike/5km run near Windsor, Berkshire.

The venue, said Adam, was the perfect location for both seasoned athletes and first timers. Smooth tarmac, traffic free, fast and flat roads create a perfect environment for a run/bike/run personal best!

For Adam this was the first time he had done a duathlon. He had a good start with second back from the run and joint fastest in the transition.

Adam said though he was in the top gear most of the way round on the mountain bike, the other competitors made it look easy to pass him. Adam so well used to riding a mountain bike and wondered how he would have done with the right bike. He was 59th fastest bike rider and on the second bike ride and did much better and was also third in the second run.

Adam finishing 14th overall and very happy for a first time! Run one 16.30sec, bike 42.50sec, Run two 17.30sec and overall 1.17.08sec.

The winner was Matt Clarkson in 1.04.47.

Adam will be running in the Tavy 13 and taking part in the Primary Challange and looking forward to seeing all the children, that have been coming to the Meadow Park Run on Wednesdays and who also will be taking part.
