A WEST Devon woman has been named as the Combined Services Sportswoman of the Year.

Lieutenant Jo Kelsey of the Royal Logistics won the award which has gone to a member of the Army Athletics Association for the second year running.

The annual Combined Services Sport Awards ceremony took place at the Royal Air Force Club in London?s Piccadilly recently where the guest of honour was the Duke of Edinburgh.

Jo?s award was a miniature engraved Wilkinson Sword in a presentation case.

Last year she obtained her first England vest by coming second in the Cross Country nationals and subsequently went on to race for England in Milan.

On the army circuit she has won the Army and Inter-Service Cross Country Championships and the 5,000m track championship where she set a new female record.

The award acknowledged her level of commitment and dedication to the sport.
