'DRONES:?the future of war?' is the subject of an illustrated talk in?Tavistock next week.

Chris Cole, of the campaign group, Drone Wars UK, will be speaking at the meeting on Tuesday, October 9 as part of a week of action against the growing use of pilotless aircraft which can carry laser-guided bombs but can be used for surveillance.

Remote control of drones enables them to strike targets thousnads of miles away — they have been deployed in Pakistan by the US.

The talk begins at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre, Plymouth Road — between the vicarage and the Bedford Hotel — and will be followed by questions and discussion. It is advisable to allow time to park as there will be road closures in preparation for Goose Fair. The event, which is free of charge, is organised by Tavistock?Peace Action?Group.
