OCTOBER is Breast Cancer Awareness Month ? and a big event is being held in Tavistock to raise money for charity and provide people with the opportunity to get their glad rags out.

The big evening is a Pink Ribbon Ball, being organised by Val McCarthy of Greys Special Occasion Wear and takes place in the town hall on Saturday, October 11.

Val said: ?There will be a three-course meal with pink champagne on arrival, dancing to a live band and a charity raffle ? lots of local businesses have come forward and donated prizes, which is lovely.

?We?re asking everybody to wear something pink ? it?s a black tie do so people can always wear a pink bow tie!?

Tickets for the event are £25 per head, with seating on tables of eight. Val said she has already had plenty of interest from companies interested in buying a table and hoped the event would raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. Greys itself is donating 10% of the cost of any pink item sold during October.
