WINNERS of a Christmas draw organised by the Tavistock Lions' Club were presented with an original painting.
The painting, worth £1,000, by David Chambers was donated by Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery and Tavistock Art?Gallery.
At a meeting of the club, Sue and Jim Gowing of Tavistock were presented with the painting, which was the first prize in the club's Christmas draw.
President of the lions' club Pat Macauley expressed thanks to Rik Hawkins from the Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery and Sarah Corber from Tavistock Art Gallery for their donation, Howells of Tavistock for sponsoring the printing of the tickets, and Morrisons for allowing the club to sell tickets in the store.
The draw raised a record £1,500 and this will be going to the Meadows' Makeover Group, which is raising funds for new play equipment in the Meadows.
The first piece of equipment the group hopes to purchase is a zip wire which is expected to cost in the region of £12,000.
A complete revamp of the play area is expected to cost £200,000.
