CALLINGTON were making their first visit to Langsford Park in the South Western League. They included many players who had worn the red and black of Tavistock to give the game a real derby flavour.
The Lambs were without Andy Parnowski and Darren Halfyard through family comitments and illness.
John Gosling moved forward to lead the attack alongside Ernesettle's Lee Doncaster.
The visitors forced a corner in the first minute but Andy Meeds dealt with the resultant kick easily. Meeds did well again on 20 minutes as he tipped away a cross from the head of Paul Webber.
As the first half progressed the Lambs did more of the attacking with several chances going begging. Gosling shot over from a Danny McTighe cross then McTighe passed to Chris Gott inside the area but the midfield man sliced his shot wide. Gosling then crossed to the far post for the best chance of the game but Doncaster mistimed his jump to head tamely wide with just Andy Brenton to beat.
The pressure finally paid off just a minute before half time when Chris Kiely threaded the ball through for James Cole to run on to and drag the ball onto his right foot and slot the ball into the far corner.
The second half started in the same vein for the Lambs as Doncaster shot into the side netting when put away down the wing and, on 49 minutes, volleyed from 25 yards to send the ball past Brenton's post. Tavistock then forced a corner and from it Craig Hodge's header was headed off the goal line.
One goal was never going to be enough for the Lambs and Callington were having more of the attacks with the home side having to defend in depth. Despite this defending the Lambs looked dangerous on the counter attack and twice they had good opportunities to increase their lead but each time Brenton prevented Doncaster.
There were just two minutes remaining when Dave Symons was adjudged to have committed a foul out on the touchline deep in his half. The free kick enabled Nathan Hicks to cross for Matt Hawke to get his head to the ball amongst a crowd of players to put the ball just wide of Meeds for a late eqaliser. The Lambs were disappointed not to have taken all three points but the draw did end a run of four defeats.
