TRACTORS trundled into Yelverton Aerodrome for the second road run to raise funds for the Devon and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

The Tamar Tractor Club rally, hosted by the Knightstone Restaurant, saw drivers set off for a trip across Wigford Down, through Sheepstor and around Burrator Reservoir, returning via Dousland.

Thirty-eight tractors completed the trip, including a vintage Field Marshall, Fords, Fergusons, David Browns and Nuffields — one special TVO version was driven by 'Farmer Mudge' from the 'Edwardian Farm' television programme.

Back at the marshalling point, spectators were treated to a live demonstration of a threshing machine owned by Alan Glanville and driven by a 1957 Nuffield Universal 3, owned by 94-year-old Charles Horn.

Organisers were thrilled to welcome tractors from a wide area — from all over Devon and as far west as St Austell — and were delighted by the generosity of those attending and the businesses offering sponsorship.

A barbecue was manned by Tavistock Round Table and tea and cakes were served by members of Spooners and West Dartmoor Hunt.

The day resulted in the two air ambulance trusts benefitting by more than £1,800.
