A celebration of the great American songbook comes to Tavistock when the show Swinging Down Memory Lane appears at The Wharf on Thursday August 21.

Swinging Down Memory Lane celebrates the music of Gershwin, Porter, Berlin, Kern, Carmichael, among others, plus the great performers including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, and features the young piano and vocal genius Nick Dawson.

The female vocalist featured in the show is Val Wiseman, who starred in the hit show The Lady Sings The Blues. Backing is provided by John Petters and his Swing Band.

This show first toured in 1989 with the legendary George Chisholm OBE and Miss Maxine Daniels, selling out at many top venues in the UK as well as Cork Opera House as part of the Cork Festival. This completely new presentation offers an evening of high quality music and great songs from those golden days when music mattered.
