TAVISTOCK?S young racing driver Jordan Williams competed in the first round of the Junior Ginetta British Championship on May 27/28 at the Pembrey Circuit in Wales. The Junior Ginetta British Championship is for 14-17 year olds driving in the Ginetta GT4 car. The championship is over six double header rounds on the most prestigious circuits in the UK. Last weekend Jordan qualified 4th for both races, after some set up difficulties. Jordan was a little disappointed as he thought he could have been a little higher on the grid. After very hard battling in the 1st race Jordan worked his way back from a difficult start to finish on the podium in 3rd in only his third race start. The second race followed a similar pattern with Jordan having to avoid spinners at the start, he was 12 seconds behind in 7th place. The car and Jordan were on form and he stormed back through the field setting fastest lap after fastest lap. He finished just two seconds behind race winner Henry Surtees and James Harrison. Jordan said: ?I knew I was quick but they were just too far ahead. I am pleased with the results but know that the championship is going to be tough. I have had a good start but now need to move on and hopefully get some wins!? Two thirds meant a solid start to the championship and with an extra point for fastest lap, Jordan lies 3rd in the championship overall. His next race is in France at the Croix en Ternois circuit on July 1/2.
