A BRASS door-knocker has been removed from a house in Hazel Road, Bishopsmead ? for the second time in a year. A door-knocker, in the shape of a fox, was taken from the property in December 2004 ? the theft was very upsetting for the woman occupant of the house as it was a family heirloom. She later replaced the door-knocker with an identical one. A year later, in the early hours of Saturday, December 17, the woman disturbed a young man who was kneeling in front of her door. He hurried away, leaving a screwdriver on the doorstep and the woman reported the incident to the police. Then overnight on Wednesday, December 21/22 the brass door-knocker was removed from the property. Investigating officer PC Simon Raeburn said: ?The woman was extremely upset. Whoever has taken the door-knocker may think it is a funny thing to do, but they do not understand the distress they have caused.? Anyone who has any information concerning the theft is asked to contact PC Raeburn at Tavistock Police Station, quoting crime reference JT051772.
