SUNBATHERS aren't the only ones who like it hot, say West

Devon Borough Council. Did you know that just ten food-

poisoning bugs in food can multiply to 1,000 in six hours'

'when it's very hot, they multiply even faster!

This Monday is the start of Food Safety Week, in which the

Food Standards Agency, supported by the council's

environmental health department, are raising the public's

awareness of the importance of food safety during the

picnic and barbeque season . Keeping food cool is the key

message ' simple things like putting your food shopping

into the fridge as soon as you get it home, and putting

your picnic into a cool bag with ice bricks. Also Knowing

which types of food need to be kept cool to avoid bugs in

rising temperatures. Food which is cooked or prepared,

or food with a 'use by' date, such as salads, sandwiches,

dips and cooked meats are high on the list. Don't leave

food in the sun! For more information visit the website,

eatwell.gov.uk, or call the council?s environmental health
