DONATIONS from the latest meeting of EqWest Equine Veterinary Clinic raised £100 for The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust. The Lamerton-based clinic holds a series of popular evening talks on various equine topics of interest to all horse and pony owners. Veterinary surgeon Jeremy Hyde discussed common lameness problems and how owners could recognise them at the last meeting. Heather Armstrong, of The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust, thanked staff and clients for their donation ? which has about five times the buying power in The Gambia and would feed ten horses for three months. She said the money would be spent either to treat sick animals or on an education extension programme to pass on basic management, welfare and first aid skills to owners in more remote villages.
