Tavistock third XV 38

OPMs third XV 0

THIS was another great win for the emerging Tavistock side that was played in brilliant sunshine but with a lot of sodden ground underfoot.

Tavistock were dominant from the start but the OPMs side held a brilliant defence on their own five metre line.

Tavistock were frustrated for the first 20 minutes and despite their dominance were unable to convert this into any points.

In the 22nd minute Dan Worth finally broke the deadlock finding a gap in the solid defence and promptly converted for the extra points as well.  Only one more try by Paul Dunstan followed in this half which was again converted by Worth.

The second half saw further Tavistock dominance despite a determined OPMs unit trying to get back into the game.

After just four minutes Worth repeated his opener from the first half.

Three further tries followed, including a solo run in from Glen Martin, a Liam Hopkin touch down following a 50 metre run by Jim Dunford — in which he ran through four tackle attempts — and the final pick and go by Tom Waley in the 76th minute.

Throughout this 'try fest' it was the Tavistock pack that proved to be the difference between the teams.

It is impossible to single out any individual player as they worked together so well.  They took turn over ball in the line out, pushed OPMs off their own scrum and out rucked their opponents.

Due to their cohesion, it was the Tavistock pack that was nominated as man of the match.
