IT was absolutely perfect weather over the weekend for The Nearwater St Mawes Triathlon in Cornwall.

Tavistock Triathlon Club had four members (pictured above) enter in the sprint distance event which was a 750m sea swim, 23k bike ride and 4.3k run. Nicky Deane-Simmons won her age group, on her birthday, in 1hr 34mins 08secs; Mike Gunnell also won his age group in 1.46.32; Clare Short came second in her age group in 1.34.33 and Liz Vernon finished in alongside Mike in 1.46.32.

Clare Short who is the chairperson and lead coach for Tavistock Triathlon Club said: 'This is the first time this event has taken place and it was extremely well organised. The swim was clear and beautiful, and both the run and bike were quite hilly but fun! Next year I hope the club will enter several members in this event as it was so spectacular.'
