YOUR front page story (November 23) of the River Taw down at North Tawton leads one to doubt if West Devon Borough Council really knows how to cope.
Some residents of North Tawton have had their houses flooded time and again. The council's answer? To arrange a flow of £20,000 of the borough's money to someone or other to report on the problem.
Have the councillors got flower gardens with flowers planted that produce £100 and £1,000 notes?
Are we being choked and bled white by impractical academics? Can't we find more practical people like the ladies 'looking at the dam' to find some more immediate practical answers to our problems and to prevent some of them too?
Okehampton College was flooded for the first time. In view of all the money that has been spent on that 'academic centre' couldn't some of those academic beneficiaries have spotted the danger?
Anyway lets take a keen interest in the next West Devon Borough election.
