IT was the first day of the Christmas holidays and I went for a stroll in Simmons Park. I was pleased to see 16 youngsters happily playing on the all-weather pitch with no bother at all. All was fine until two men (I assume college staff) arrived and unceremoniously told the boys to leave, telling them it was college property and they weren?t allowed there or on any of the surrounding grass areas. Surely these boys were better getting fresh air, exercise and keeping out of trouble than being made to wander off elsewhere or go home and sit in front of the TV etc? I think sensible discretion would have been more in order. With all the recent ?keep off? signs, no parking here and there maybe the college should consider dropping the word ?community? from its name as it is misleading to the general public!
