A NEWLY-acquired vintage ride was introduced at Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre in Lifton this half term week.
Shaw’s Moon Rocket was acquired by Dingles, which is operated by the Fairground Heritage Trust, from the Maden family with the help of a £90,000 grant from the Heritage Memorial Fund.
The ride was made in 1938 and was the ultimate thrill ride of the 1930s. Most examples of the ride were stored, sold or scrapped by the 1970s but Shaw’s travelled until 1984. It was later purchased by the late Howard Maden and underwent a comprehensive restoration.
The Moon Rocket was opened to the public at Dingles this week and will be available to see until Sunday (February 19). It can then be viewed after the full season starts in March.
