RESIDENTS and staff at Okehampton nursing home Aalen House are celebrating the award of a £20,000 grant from the Department of Health. The grant is aimed at promoting ?Dignity In Care? for the elderly, and Aalen House was recognised by the panel of judges for the continued improvements to the service they provide for their residents. Their submission was also praised for being exceptionally well researched and presented. Aalen House Nursing Home provides 24-hour nursing an residential care for the elderly and is registered for 32 beds. The tea at Aalen House earlier this year were awarded the judges? special prize in the National Allcora Awards for Care Excellence. Jan Hazell, nurse manager, said: ?PSP Healthcare have already invested a lot of money in revamping Aalen House since they took over a couple of years ago. This latest funding is fantastic news and we are all very excited about the further improvements that we can make to directly benefit all who live and work here.? Th e money will be used to add an extension to the lounge with a conservatory, offering views across Okehampton, together with the landscaping of a specially designed sensory garden for residents.
