TAVISTOCK Camera Club is celebrating this week after receiving an award from the National Lottery that will take it forward into the digital age.

The club received a grant of £4,650 from the lottery?s Awards for All scheme, enabling members to purchase a digital camera, projector, laptop computer and screen.

The new equipment means members and visiting speakers will be able to present work straight from camera, disc, flash drive or media card.

Club chairman Keith Urro said: ?For a club such as ours this is a large amount of money ? it will not only allow access to digital images and presentations, but will also permit members and visiting instructors to show in real time how images may be improved and printed using computer software.?

The club also plans to take digital slide shows out into the local community.

Keith said: ?We plan to put on slide shows in the local area and make them a community event.

?For example, we have been asked to contribute a visual presentation as part of the forthcoming celebrations to mark the anniversary of the granting of the Market Charter to Tavistock.?

Using the new equipmant the club will run a course, starting in January 2005, entitled ?An Introduction to Digital and Film Photography? which will be open to all club members and the local community.
