AN ADVICE day for the green-fingered will be held at the Ockment Community Centre in Okehampton on July 14 featuring BBC Radio Devon gardener Tim Argles.
Tim, who has been teaching the RHS General Certificate course in Okehampton over the past 18 months, will be on hand to give help and advice to people interested in developing their garden.
The event is being hosted by Bicton College, which, in conjunction with the Ockment Centre hopes to be able to offer a number of part-time and short courses for anybody interested in gardening and professional horticulture in the near future.
The five-term RHS General Certificate course begins again in September and course content will include making the most of your garden, introducing new plants, propagating, fruit and vegetable know-how and controlling weeds.
The course involves a good deal of theory work together with practicals and students will attend Bicton College at least twice per term to use the facilities there.
