AFTER 60 years of marriage, John and Margaret Macnally re-tied the knot once more, to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.

The Tavistock couple renewed their vows at a service in St Eustachius Church, led by the Rev Michael Brierley, 60 years to the day after their marriage in Hampshire.

John and Margaret had been childhood friends before their marriage. John worked in the prison service, and it was a posting to Dartmoor that brought the couple to Tavistock more than 30 years ago.

Among the greetings the couple received from friends, family and well-wishers was a congratulatory card from the Queen and a letter from the Prime Minister.

The service was attended by their children Frances and Stephen, their grandchildren Rachel, Hannah, Tom and Tim and other family members.
