A CAPACITY audience at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple, enjoyed a wonderful day at the county final of the Devon Young Farmers' entertainments competition.
Six remarkable productions, lasting half an hour each, saw young members show off a wide range of talents, from singing and dance routines to excellent acting and comedy sketches, woven into their performances.
Cheriton Tedburn YFC was crowned the overall winners with their performance of 'Radio GaGa' and will go on to represent Devon in the South West Area round of the competition.
The best actor award went to James Brooks, of Cheriton Tedburn YFC, with his very amusing performance as the show's 'butler', and a delighted Rachel Pincome, of Meshaw YFC, won the award for best actress in the North Devon Group performance of 'Saturday Night at Home with North Devon'.
The senior ambassador and junior member of the year competitions were also held.
Following a formal interview with the judges and an on stage interview, Helen Blowey, of Tavistock YFC, was announced as the winner of the senior ambassador award. Kingsbridge YFC's Isabelle Heath, was the winner of the junior member of the year competition — both of them will go on to represent Devon.
The day finished with the Devon YFC's Got Talent Competition, offering members their own 'five minutes of fame'.
Congratulations went to winners Woolsery YFC for their performance of 'The Song', and runners-up, Chagford YFC, who
only altered their 'Ping Pong' act on the day to be eligible to compete within the rules.
