Crediton RFC U12 7 Tavistock RFC U12 0 WITH an excellent squad turnout for the away rugby fixture against Crediton, Tavistock was able to play individuals in different positions in the separate halves and to experiment with match tactics against a strong and disciplined opposition. The second half line up moved the game to Tavistock's advantage. The forwards were as usual outsized by the Crediton pack but played with tenacity and drive to win the ball on a significant number of occasions especially with a quick ball in the scrum. The front row of Martin Budden, Kris Sprangle and Dominic Dewson lead the drive effectively. Crediton scored the solitary try and conversion in the first half with a breakthrough from their strong and agile 12. The fact that neither side were to score again illustrates the even performance of the opposing sides with differing strengths. The tackling by Tavistock was strong especially against some of the larger Crediton players. Jack Crozier delivered some big tackles in the second half whilst Robert Grove hindered Crediton progress with determination. The backs delivered some good passing moves although lost ground with some inaccurate passing. Henry Salmon delivered some excellent turnovers from quick and strong rucking whilst Jonty Newton engineered some strong drives to move Tavistock into the well defended Crediton half. Despite the control of the second half Tavistock were unable to find the gaps to reach the touchline to even the scoreline. A well matched game played with guts and determination by both teams right up to the final whistle. Okehampton U11s 30 Teignmouth U11s 0 Okehampton played their best rugby of the season against two excellent fit teams. Firstly they beat Teignmouth with swift passing and hard tackling. Daniel Squires on the wing looked impressive by not putting a foot wrong. Luke Liversidge and Will Cooper at half backs supplied good quick ball. Giles Heard at full back came into the line at every opportunity to cut through the opposition, while Josh Bickley and Ollie Francis in the centre kept knocking the opposition over. The pack won most of the scrums, with Alfie Lawson playing prop and Josh Punchard quick on the loose ball. Okehampton U11s 20 Cullompton U11s 5 THIS game started at a fast pace, with good phases for both teams. Okehampton passed the ball wide at every chance, with Edward Penrose and Johnathon Aylen making good yardage and Josh Bickley going through fthe gaps to score. Callum Pillavent and Alfie Hawker passed out of the tackle well and were supported by Ike Francis and Josah Punchard. In the second half Okehampton tired and Cullompton came back with some clinical rucking and put Okehampton on the back foot, but they rallied to finish with scores from Luke Liversidge and Will Cooper.
