A MUCH-loved pet tortoise went missing from the garden of a house in Buckland Monachorum last week and police are appealing for information on its whereabouts.

Tommy, who is probably a girl, is a Herman's green tortoise and until recently spent her daytimes in the garden. The garden is very secure as Tommy is only about five inches long. For four and a half years she has been the pet of the young children in the house.

Tommy went missing between 3pm and 4pm on April 27, and despite an immediate search has not been seen since. The tortoise needs to be kept inside at night with proper heating equipment, so anyone with any information on its whereabouts should please contact PCSO Seonaid Greenwood or the police station.
