A BUCKLAND resident says she is still getting phone calls from concerned members of the public, a year after her much-loved pet dog went missing.
Denzil, a black Patterdale terrier, disappeared on May 18 while Linda Downing and her husband, Mike, were working in woodlands in the Denham Bridge area.
Despite a huge search, and extensive poster and publicity campaign, the couple have not found Denzil — but they have not given up hope yet.
Linda said: 'He might be in Plymouth living off chocolate digestives and sleeping on a silk cushion, or he could have got stuck down a rabbit hole and died that day — we just don't know.'
Linda said she had heard from one local woman whose spaniel was returned home two and a half years after going missing, having been found in Lancashire.
'I am still getting phone calls from people who think they have seen him — I find the goodwill from people truly amazing,' she said.
'Until I have a body, there's always a chance.'
Anyone who may have information or has seen Denzil, who is black with a white chest, and who has been microchipped, can call Linda on 01822 853792.
