MEMBERS of Tavistock Peace Action Group will be demonstrating in the town centre this month, as part of the national campaign for nuclear disarmament.
The protest will take place on August 6 and marks Hiroshima Day, which remembers the 140,000 people who died when the first nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima during World War II.
Information, petitions and an inflatable model of a Trident nuclear weapon will be on display.
Martin Mowforth, co-ordinator of TPAG, said the group believed nuclear weapons were 'immoral'.
'They also cost this country enormous amounts of money — £1.5 billion for Trident each year — money that is urgently needed for other services both here and abroad.'
The demonstration will be held between 10am and 3pm.
