A MAN from Okehampton was among 700 riders in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain challenge.

Andy Elliott took part in this year's challenge for nine days in early June. It is the UK's premier long distance cycling challenge, with a testing 982-mile cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End. The ride was set up in 2010 to unite riders taking on the classic challenge from one end of Britain to the other.

Andy said: 'It was an epic ride and I met some great people along the route — riders and support crew alike.

'Some of the most memorable moments were cycling back into England across the old Severn Bridge, and cycling past my house in Okehampton with the knowledge there was only 100 miles to go.'

After months of training, Andy's efforts have raised over £1,500 in aid of Help for Heroes.
