PUPILS at Lydford Primary School celebrated 'Traditional Tales' during their recent book week.

To start the week off the children studied Australian Dreamtime stories and Cinderella stories from around the world.

They also held a successful bring and buy book sale.

Storyteller Don Newton, of Rough Magic, regaled the school with a myriad of his traditional tales and used his 'magic bag' to help the pupils make up and tell their own stories.

The week culminated with a mufti day of traditional tale characters, which the children used to write and act out their new tales.
