THE doors of the new Bere Alston Parish Hall were opened to the public, who were delighted with the improvements.

The open day followed eight years of fundraising, during which the Bere Alston Regeneration Partnership, Bergen, secured almost £500,000 from a variety of sources to enable a two-storey annexe to be added to the existing 100-year-old hall.

The new building was completed early in the new year.

The open day was a great success, with hundreds of parishioners being given a tour of the property under the guidance of members of group.

Most of the rooms have yet to be fitted out, with the exception of the Cabin child care centre, but all who attended were delighted with the new development and amazed at the transformation of the original hall.

The visitors were asked to fill out questionnaires on what help they could give to refurbishing the main hall and how this may be achieved.
