A FORMER Tavistock resident who criticised the lack of floral decorations on Tavistock?s Bedford Square says she will rise to a challenge issued by town councillors last month. Janet Sturmer lives on the Isles of Scilly but still owns the house in Whitchurch, where she lived for 30 years previously. Last month she wrote to the council to voice her concern about the non-appearance of floral displays in the square. While discussed Mrs Sturmer?s letter, a suggestion was put to the council, and subsequently reported in the Times, that she might like to donate some daffodils to enhance the square. Mrs Sturmer has since responded to the report and said she hoped it might promote ?further discussion and a positive result?. She said: ?Should floral containers be used in the square at some time in the future, I would be pleased to provide a planting of bulbs for them from these delightful, sub-tropical islands, but please note, they are not daffodils, but very fragrant narcissi!?
