OKEHAMPTON College students collected their AS and A2 results last Thursday, with the school celebrating another year of good results.
At A2 level the college achieved a 100% pass rate between A* to E grades, with 78% of A* to C grades, and 50% between A* to B.
The results are almost identical to last year, which was a record one for the college. However, this year, the average point score per student rose by 24 points.
The AS level grades were marginally down on last year, but still set a good standard with an 85% A* to E pass rate.
Students gathered at the college from 10am to collect their results. One of the first to get their A2 grades was Katie Curnow.
She said: 'I got two As and two Bs, which is what I needed. It is amazing, I really can't believe it.
'I now will go on to Swansea University to study marine biology. It's unbelievable, I can't stop shaking!'
AS students at the college were also picking up their results at the same time.
One of the students, Adam Hughes, said: 'I got four As and a B — I'd have liked five As!
'I am really happy with these results, I feel great right now.'
Okehampton College principal Daryll Chapman said: 'We are really pleased with the A-level results. It shows the hard work put in by both students and staff is paying off.
'Many congratulations to all of our students. We were very pleased with results last year so to achieve the same level this time round is great.
'We are also very happy about the improved point scores, which shows we are going in the right direction.
'We are optimistic that the majority of students who applied to university will get into a university of their choice, and wish them all the best in the future.
'Hopefully, this high level in A-level will encourage those coming through the lower sixth and those joining sixth form to kick on and get the results they want.
'The AS results are slightly down, but there have been some outstanding results among the AS students, and they have a platform to go on and get good results next year.'
Among the highest achievers at the college at A2 level were Greg Bland with two A*s, an A and a B, Rosa Tyler-Clarke with two A*s and an A, Chris Lynch with two A*s and two Bs, Rebecca Andrew with two A*s and one A, Rachel Laidlaw with an A*, two As and a B, and Gareth Williams with two As and a B.
