Tavistock Colts 0 Teignmouth Colts 12 TAVISTOCK hosted the Devon Colts league leaders and put up one of their best performances of the season. Training in areas like the ruck and support play was evident during the game and Tavistock put together plenty of attacking moves involving all the team. An early try for the visitors after a driven maul was the only score of the first half which included a missed penalty for Tavistock. Long periods of the second half saw both teams locked in midfield with neither defence giving much away. Tavistock's tackling was much improved throughout the team with centres Hodges and Thompson solid against their opposite numbers. Tavistock attacked on both wings and a golden chance went begging after a breakaway by fly half Smerdon and second row Lawson down the left wing. A long, speculative pass went to ground but the idea was good and would have produced a try on another day. Teignmouth crossed the line late on with a converted try which put the game out of Tavistock's reach. Another chance to score after several phases on the visitors' tryline was wasted when ill discipline gave a penalty to the defending side. Second row Huntington-Whiteley worked hard in the first half and hooker Peck showed improved match fitness. Man of the match: Ewan Smith.
