Duchy division 1 Dobwalls 4 Lamerton 1 LAMERTON left this closely fought game against their old division 2 and 3 rivals deflated by the end score line. Sloppy goals were conceded late on and key chances missed at 1-1. They had the worst start, going behind after only 5 minutes. Lamerton dominated the next 15; equalising through Panda Williams? delicately placed volley from the edge of the box. Williams hit the bar soon after from a free kick, but Lamerton took their foot off and let Dobwalls back into the game. Some changes at half time saw them reassert the pressure in the 2nd half. It was those first 10 minutes after the restart that decided the fate of the game. Steve Wickett set himself up superbly on a couple of occasions, but uncharacteristically missed the target from close range. Steve Roast excelled down the right hand side, notably with a shot just passed the post and crosses that deserved to be converted. James Healy and Steve Gibbings were forceful in the middle of the park, but to no avail. Dobwalls hit a surprise goal mid way through the second period from a long range free kick. Lamerton keeper Pete Daniel seem to let it go, but to the shock of the players, it floated in via the post. It was the crucial goal that swayed the game, crushing Lamerton?s efforts. Dobwalls got their tales up and consequently eased to victory. Their third goal was best forgotten: A mix up between keeper and defence saw Daniel belatedly rush out of goal but when he crept down to pick the ball up, realising he was out of his area. The ball rolled under his hands for the oncoming striker to embarrassingly tap home. With 10 minutes left another Dobwalls set piece concluded a fourth goal. With Key players still missing and a creditable performance that deserved more, it wasn?t all doom and gloom for the Lammy lads. Next game is Tuesday, September 13 away to Launceston.
