Caradon 4
Tavistock A 1
Tavistock's 'A' team travelled to Liskeard last Saturday to play Caradon, who needed a win to edge ahead of Tavistock in the league. The home side received an unexpected bonus when Tavistock fielded only 10 men.
The game rushed from end to end for the first 15 minutes. A half chance from Caradon slid past Kelly to put them in the lead after 16 minutes, but Tavistock sprang straight back.
Caradon repelled several strong attacks before Reynolds committed the keeper and slipped the ball to Pethick for an easy finish. All looked set for 1-1 at half time when Caradon pulled a second goal out of the bag just before the whistle.
Defence was not an option for Tavistock. They pressed forward leaving the defence exposed. Hard defending and several spectacular saves from Kelly kept them in the match.
Ten minutes in though, Caradon finally scored from their sixth penalty corner of the match. Another goal followed before the final whistle, leaving Tavistock with a 4-1 loss but the visitors had a lot to be pleased about.
This was a spirited performance and a number of well-crafted series of short sharp passes marked the match.
However, Tavistock's penalty corners need work and too many chances are flashing across the goal without a stick on the end of them.
