DESPITE the final score this was an excellent performance from Tavistock U 14s, who acquitted themselves well against a Cullompton team, unbeaten so far this season.

Playing in blazing sunshine, Tavistock threw everything into their defence, with excellent tackles from Braidy Workman, Oliver Wood and Alec Hampden-Smith denying the home team a score until near the end of the first half, when quick ball from the scrum let Cullompton over the Tavistock try line. They scored again from the kick-off, but Tavistock kept their nerve, and Angus Hogg took the first score of the second half, after superb support from the forwards.

Tavistock legs began to tire, and Cullompton gained the upper hand with two more tries.

Good tackling and rucking from the Tavistock boys denied Cullompton a number of other opportunities, and they came away satisfied that they had played their best against a strong side.
