South Devon League

Belstone v Pinhoe

BELSTONE failed to pick up any points in the South Devon League last Sunday as visitors Pinhoe recorded a comfortable six wicket win to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.

Put into bat on a pitch that gave the pavilion end bowlers in particular some assistance Belstone struggled to 97 all out in 30.2 overs, with only Wayne Pearce, with a typically robust 29, making much impression.

At 52 for three he received a ball from Andy Elliott which reared off a length and could only be gloved to keeper Kevin Joslin. Elliott?s next ball moved sharply off the pitch to knock back Harry Bushin?s middle stump, Elliott finishing with figures of four wickets for 27 off nine overs.

In reply Pinhoe had no need to take any risks and Brian Bosomworth (34) and Joslin (29 not out) ensured that they reached their target with the minimum of fuss.

This Sunday Belstone play Ashburton at Rew Meadow in a crucial game which will go some way to deciding who is relegated from Division One of the League. The match starts at 2.30pm ? spectators very welcome.
