Devon B division
Tavistock first v South Devon
TAVISTOCK entertained South Devon who upon winning the toss elected to bat. However, they were soon on the back foot thanks to Lee Baker (2-20) and Chris Hutchins (1-32) who reduced them to 62-3 at drinks, with the only real resistance being offered by the overseas player who eventually departed for 48.
After the break it was once again Shaun Daymond who made the vital breakthrough with two wickets in one over, eventually finishing with 4-31. Credit must also go to veteran seamer Andy Gauler who toiled away to finish with figures of 3-39 as South Devon collapsed to 126 all out.
Tavistock got off to a bad start in reply losing Ian Gray for 2 with just 14 on the board. It was then down to Josh Stephens and Will Simpson to steady the ship, they moved the score on to 34 before Stephens edged to the keeper.
Daymond and Simpson set about developing a partnership before Simpson was bowled for 12, bringing David Manning to the crease. Manning once again upped the tempo of the innings hitting six boundaries in a score of 28. However, the partnership of 43 was eventually broken with the winning line in sight when Manning edged to the keeper.
Tavistock wobbled losing Aaron Churchill and Mark Webber before the dependable Daymond (27 not out) and Sean Cleave saw the team home with eight overs to spare.
