Whitchurch Wayfarers v Dawlish
THIS game was all but off at 11am with the Whitchurch pitch under water, however, Dawlish chose to travel and how grateful Whitchurch were.
The match started with Dawlish batting. They were soon in trouble as the slips cordon took three fine catches off the bowling of MacDougall. He went on to take a fourth wicket and return figures of 4 for 11 from 10 overs.
Alcock (23) and Lockyer (22), steadied the Dawlish innings, but as overs ran out and they started to push for runs, the wickets tumbled, again to some fine catches.
Skipper Davies took a catch off his shoulder which seemed destined for the boundary. With two run-outs, Dawlish were dismissed for 115.
In reply, Hodge and Chappell made good early progress — a season's best opening stand of 46 for the first wicket. After Hodge was out, Hall (38no) partnered Chappell (62) to the brink of victory.
Whitchurch knocked the runs off with 8 wickets and 13 overs in hand to claim the full 20 points.
This week they have a top of the table clash at Roborough.
