Wadebridge Town 0

Tavistock AFC 1

THE Lambs continued their fine run of results lifting them to sixth position in the league table, with a hard earned victory against a young Wadebridge team.

The first goal scoring attempt from the visitors came in the fifth minute when Richard Maddison cut inside but his shot was brilliantly saved by the home keeper.

Good work by Ben Davies set Conday free, who squared the ball back to Adam Carter but his shot failed to find the target. In the 27th minute following a Krac corner a shot from Dave Hallett was blocked resulting in goalmouth scramble with the ball breaking to Davies who's final shot was cleared of the goal line to safety.

Three minutes later the Lambs took a deserved lead with the best move of the match, when Ben Davies broke from the half way line beat his full back with ease, and fed Mark Conday on the edge of the penalty area, Conday's pass split the home defence wide open to find Davies, who calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner from 12 yards.

In the 40th minute the visitors had their first real scare as the home side launched a rare counter attack which resulted in a shot from Menhenick skimming the top of the bar. Then on the stroke of half time the host's goalkeeper made a magnificent save to prevent Adam Carter increasing the lead.

In the second period Wadebridge came more into the game but rarely threatened the Lambs goal. The visitors continued to press but Shane Krac, Richard Maddison, and Mark Conday all had efforts well saved.

Mid way through the half Tavistock had their first real scare when Shane Krac lost possession in midfield and the resulting raid threatened an equaliser, which was cleared by Will Stringer for a corner.

In the 70th minute another tremendous goal bound header from Carter was cleared of the goal line by Cudmore.

The home side failed to create any more goal scoring opportunities, but the Lambs became very edgy during the nine minutes of added time added by the referee. It was the visitors who nearly extended their lead in the last minute when Carter shot wide.

On Saturday the Lambs visit Dartmouth, kick-off 3 pm; the Reserves are at home to Launceston, kick-off 3 pm. Next Wednesday Tavistock are at home to Witheridge, kick-off 7.30pm.
