SALLY Noy-Scott from Lamerton was the lucky name on the winning stub drawn from the thousand tickets sold by the Tavistock Rotary Club for its charity trolley dash.

The event took place at Morrison's on January 10 and Sally's son Rupert did the dashing on her behalf.

Three minutes was the time allowed and goods totalling £250 could be loaded into one trolley, provided that no item exceeded the value of £50 and spirits, electrical goods as well as perfume and cigarettes were excluded.

David Incoll, Rotarian in charge of fundraising for the club, said: 'There was a tremendous response from Morrison's customers and nearly all the 1,000 tickets were sold on two days in December.

This is the first time our club has organised a trolley dash and we are very grateful to Morrison's for allowing the use of the Tavistock supermarket and for generously contributing £15 towards our costs.'

Club president Trevor Williams said: 'Even in these times of austerity people in the area have supported our fundraising with enthusiasm.

'Our Christmas collections raised around £1,800 and with the profit from this trolley dash, the club's charity fund is now in a healthy position to enable us to continue to support needs in our community and contribute to international causes throughout the wider Rotary organisation.'
