THE summer season of the Callington and Gunnislake Ladies Dart League came to a close when the finals and presentation was held at the Red and Black Club, Tavistock.
The evening began with the first round of the Captains' Cup: Claire Robins (Union Inn) beat Carolyn Sanders (Cornish Inn); Lindsay Hewison (Coryton Arms) beat Vicki Gale (Rifle Volunteer); Anna Johnson (GSC Dames) beat Kirsty Masterton (Prince of Wales) and Hayley Gillett (Phoenix) beat Sue Cork (Red and Black).
In the semi-finals Claire Robins went out to Lindsay Hewison and Hayley Gillett lost to Anna Johnson. With their places in the final secure, some close darts were played, but the title was taken by Lindsay.
Earlier rounds of the singles and doubles competitions saw the singles played to the semi-finals, whilst the doubles were played out. In the semi-finals of the singles, Caroline Hammond (Red and Black) secured her place in the final by defeating her team mate, Jenny Edwards. The second semi-final saw Lauren Adams (Coryton Arms) defeat Margaret Martin (Phoenix). However, Caroline had the edge in the final, and beat Lauren to take the title.
The presentation followed, and the winners were: league winners Coryton Arms, runners-up Rifle Volunteer; captains' winner Lindsay Hewison (Coryton Arms), runner-up Anna Johnson (GSC Dames); doubles, Lindsay Hewison and Sarah O'Leary (Coryton Arms), runners-up Carolyn Sanders and Tamsin Coggan (Cornish Inn); singles Caroline Hammond (Red and Black), runner-up Lauren Adams (Coryton Arms); most team wins, (25/30) Coryton Arms; most team tons (69) Coryton Arms; most individual wins (9/10) Vicki Gale (Rifle Volunteer); most individual tons (22) Lauren Adams (Coryton Arms), Hayley Gillett (Phoenix); highest score (156) Laura Voaden (Cornish Inn); highest shot out (120) Gill Edge-Downing (Prince of Wales).
