The Tavistock team of Dartmoor Search and Rescue has issued huge thanks to everyone who has helped them reach their £50,000 target for their Rescue50 appeal.

Despite reaching this target however, this year, the team are now seeking to raise a further £65,000 for an additional building for their rescue centre, along with vital redevelopments which need to be made to the existing building.

According to a statement issued by the team, the additional building will house their three rescue vehicles and the redevelopments planned for the existing building will allow for improved storage of life-saving equipment for deployment by the hill party teams.

The team is currently approaching one third of the way to achieving their target.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue does not receive government funding and instead relys solely on donations to remain operational, which is why they are continuing to appeal for help. If you would like to donate, this can be done through their website or through their JustGiving page, at: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/RescueCentreRebuild.

To help with fundraising for the appeal, there are a handful of upcoming events remaining for 2022, including: a talk kindly given by Ian Kilpatrick at Tavistock Guildhall (as detailed on page three), a festive quiz night at the Red and Black Club on Friday, December 9th and festive pop up stalls.

Further details of these events can be found at the team’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DartmoorSRTTavistock
