LATER this month will see the 60th anniversary of the designation of Dartmoor as a National Park.

Dartmoor, which is now recognised as having some of the finest archaeological landscapes in the world, dates from prehistory and will be celebrated this Saturday with a debate form the Dartmoor Society.

The event, which will be open to all, will explore and debate what we have learned about Dartmoor's archaeology since its creation in 1951, with first class speakers from the Dartmoor Society and Dartmoor National Park Authority.

The debate, Dartmoor's Archaeological Heritage and its Conservation, takes place at Meldon Village Hall 10am until 4.30pm. Advance booking at £15 for Dartmoor Society Members and £16 for non-members is required, which will include coffee, lunch and tea.

Please send name, address, and telephone/e-mail with a cheque payable to The Dartmoor Society, to PO Box 38, Tavistock, Devon PL19 0XJ
