Under 13 Tavistock . .14
Ivybridge . . . . . . . . . . 39
PLAYING Ivybridge, this season?s winners of the U13 Devon Cup, was never going to be easy but the scoreline demonstrated just how far the team had developed since the previous encounter back in September when Ivybridge had romped away with victory.
After many forwards? charges lead by Hammy (Marc Kerswell) and Jack Hodges it was Darren White, playing at flanker, who drove his way through Ivybridge?s defences to finally burrow his way to the try line.
The backs tried all their well-worked moves but could not breach the tireless Ivybridge defence.
A clever kick from Andrew Swerdon over the heads of the opposition, proved the key to prising open the resolute defences.
Damion Dee on the wing, seeing his chance, took off from the half way line caught the ball on the bounce and raced around the last defenders to score between the posts.
This Ivybridge side though have rarely lost a game in the last three years, losing only once this season.
All their first class precision passing, intelligent direction of running, ball handling skills and continuity of play was brought to bear against Tavistock in this thoroughly entertaining game.
Next week there is a final training session at Sandy Park before the three day tour to Leamington and Cirencester starting on Friday at 1pm from Bedford Square in Tavistock.
