A YELVERTON businessman is taking on a 75-mile bike ride to raise money for British Heart Foundation this month. Last year, Roger Charles, of British Beds Worldwide in Yelverton, cycled the challenging Tour de Moor, a 35- mile off-road stretch across Dartmoor, in order to raise money for a local charity. Upon completion of the ride, Roger said: 'I felt that I could do more when I finished and I looked not only for a greater challenge but also for a charity that supports more people and nationally.' On September 20, Roger will embark on an even greater trip, attempting the London to Brighton off-road bike ride, which spans a massive 75 miles of challenging terrain including single track bike paths and forest tracks. This ride will be in aid of the British Heart Foundation — a charity that is close to Roger's heart and one that he knows is close to many others. His aim this time is raise £1,000, and is well on his way with help from many generous givers already. Roger also urges anyone who has loved ones affected by heart disease, or if there is anyone you wish to remember, to get in touch, as he will be putting their names on his shirt in order to inspire him through the gruelling challenge, especially his climb over the South Downs after around 60 miles.
