A FORMER Tavistock student has recently begun a 900-mile sponsored cycle ride.

Nurse Brenda Boston has undertaken a major personal challenge, cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End in what is hoped to take 19 days.

Brenda will be accompanied by her sister Jenny Martin, who will be driving the route and providing support throughout the cycle.

Brenda and Jenny, who attended Princetown Primary and Tavistock Comprehensive schools, have planned routes to avoid headwinds and uphill sections of the route.

The women are raising money for the Starlight Children's Foundation, which grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children.
